Superman? That earned a laugh and another groan of pain.

"Hah...ow, shit, stop making me laugh. I'm hardly that git in the tights and pants on the outside...can't fly, not that strong, DEFINITELY don't have impenetrable skin, or any of the other stupid abilities that he has.."

The offer of painkillers was generous. Illegal, but generous. Matt considered the options. He could be in pain, and heal in two days, or he could not be in pain, and heal in two days. Not being in pain meant that he could go out on patrol again, so...

"Let's get a binding and then I'll take Tylenol with codeine...if it gets worse later, I'll bump it to some Vicodin, but it's not the worst pain I've felt."

That award was probably to the gun shot on his last deployment. That bastard had been hell on wheels...took for damn ever to heal as well since it had slammed into his ribs and shattered under the skin. the surgery to remove all the pieces had to be delayed until he was back in England...thank God it had been done though. There were too many complications he'd heard about with having bits of bullets in you. Matt stayed down for the time being until they could get the break bound up.

Tylenol with codeine. Worked for Klaus. He had some, though Vicodin were his pain pill of choice. Probably sounded bad having a favorite controlled prescription drug, but well, he'd learned what worked best and felt best with his body when he'd been injured on the hunt in the past. Thank goodness it didn't happen often enough for him to be stuck on the drugs. No, he didn't like them that much, and he rather enjoyed full mobility and function. Broken things? They tended to get in the way of any sort of fun he liked to indulge in.

"Works for me," Klaus said. He went about finding the things he needed, which were in the second bag he had and grabbed a couple of the pain pills and a cup of water on his way back to Matt. He handed the pills and water to Matt then knelt back down so he could bind his friend. "Much as it bites, I'm gonna need you to sit up, mate." Only way to get the thing around with ease and accuracy. If he was slumped, it would be too loose, but he also didn't want to try to overcompensate for that and end up getting the brace too tight.

Matt didn't question the pharmacy that Klaus had available to himself. As useful as it was currently, Matt knew that if he thought too long about the illegal nature of the drugs, he'd not be able to take them, no matter how much pain he was in. They were paid for at least, Matt was sure. Okay, yeah, stop thinking about the drugs, focus on breathing.

It was interesting that he could hear the bone creaking. It sounded...Matt winced as he breathed in again. It sounded like limbs of a tree rubbing against other branches. Or a wooden dock under the stress of the waves. A wooden groaning creak. He couldn't see, but he could hear his own bones grinding against themselves. What a hell of a superpower. As he started to chuckle at that, a zap of pain came from his side.

"Ow...okay, no laughing..."

At least he could mutter to himself sarcastically still. The world would be a sad place if he couldn't do that. Klaus returned with the pills, water, and what appeared to be an ace bandage. Ooooh, this was going to be all kinds of not fun.

"Drugs first, sadist."

Matt held his hand out and took the medications, slamming them back quickly with the water. He gave himself a few more relatively pain free seconds, counted to three under his breath, then sat up. Ooh, yeah, that hurt. Matt said nothing to the effect, but he reached his arms up over his head, hands clasped and elbows together to get the limbs out of the way. This wasn't his first rodeo with field dressing a broken bone. The last time had been...Afghanistan? Or was it Egypt? He couldn't remember, but it had hurt more then.

"Tight, and I'll breathe out on three. One...two.."

He blew his breath out with a hiss and held it until Klaus got the initial wraps done and anchored. Once that was complete, he allowed himself a few shallow sips of air as he tested the wrap, then resumed breathing normally when he could feel that he wasn't going to pop the binding off with his movements.

Sadist? Klaus chuckled. If only Matt knew. But what did it matter? Klaus grabbed the bandage and placed it behind Matt's back, waited for him to breathe in then secured the velcro front in place. He'd had broken ribs before. He'd tried an ACE bandage but soon found himself at the store looking for something more appropriate for dressing himself. "Tight enough?" he asked. It looked it. And as Matt tested it, it seemed he agreed. Klaus sat back on his feet a moment quietly before beginning to put up the items he had taken out into the bag so he could go put them away.

"Let me know if anything else," he said as he stood and then walked the few steps to the bathroom to shove the bag under the sink. There, everything in its place. He came back out after a moment of staring in the mirror without really looking at anything in particular. He came back out to see Matt struggling to get up and quickly moved over to help. "Let me help," he said, figuring that was better than risking hurting him just by automatically doing so.

A curt nod indicated that the dressing was fine. The bite on his arm wasn't bleeding too badly anymore. Various other bruises and scratches would heal. This was okay. It was easy to reassure himself of being okay when he was on the floor, but the real test would be getting up. After all, his core was pretty battered. Matt leaned his weight against the wall and pushed with his legs and arms against the ground, trying to lever himself up onto his feet. With the injury and the adrenal let-down, he found himself not quite able to do so just yet. Thankfully, there was Klaus.

"Thanks, K."

Light tremors made him look as if he was shivering, but Matt ignored it. This was a fairly typical reaction for him after an injury, so there wasn't any need to be concerned. What he DID need was water. He took his glass and went to the kitchen, navigating with ease.

"Welcome," Klaus replied. "Just don't get used to it, eh?" It was a joke. Matt knew he'd help him however long he needed, not that that sounded like it would be long. He said he healed ridiculously fast. Klaus still didn't know what to think of some of the new revelations. In fact, he needed time to process and relax after this whole scare. Klaus watched Matt walk to the kitchen. Walked like a champ, really. He was shivering, but that was his only tell. Klaus ran a hand through his hair then went to the fridge to grab himself a beer. After popping the top off, he walked to the sectional and sat down on his chaise piece.

"What you in the mood for?" Klaus asked as he turned the television and cable on. He did not feel like talking, not after this morning and everything he'd seen and been told. Nope. Did not seem wise at all. TV would allow them some quiet.

Matt snorted in good humor, grinning.

"I'll try not to make it a habit, okay?" he retorted from the kitchen, drained his glass of water, and then headed to his room for a sweater. If the adrenaline letdown was making him tremor like that, then it would be better to stay warm.

He trudged back out, eyes glassy and focused on nothing. Despite that, he navigated with ease to the couch and took a seat in the corner of the sectional so he could lay back and keep his chest elevated.

"I dunno. Something with a good sound track."

It was a weak joke, but it was what he had at the moment. He closed his eyes and relaxed, letting the conversational blank space stretch comfortably. There was no point in forcing the questions. They'd come when they'd come and he'd answer them then.

"In that case...." Klaus said, standing up and walking over to his small collection of DVDs to search for a specific movie. He quickly decided against Fellowship of the Ring or any other The Lord of the Rings movie. Nice soundtracks but not quite the sort of movie he was in the mood for. Too long, too...movie-ish in soundtrack quality. No, he needed something with a good modern soundtrack. That left The Queen of the Damned. Awful movie, truthfully, but at least it had some good bands. It was the sort of movie you owned to put on while you were cleaning or something if you wanted more than just music in the background. But, hey, at least it wasn't Cruise as Lestat. He popped it in and then sat back down, the DVD remote in hand. He skipped ahead to the menu then told it to play.

Hopefully Matt wouldn't complain.

"Vampires? Awesome. Good choice, bud."

It was hard to say if he was being truthful or sarcastic. Either way, Matt settled in for the familiar movie. The last time he had watched this, he had been sighted and drunk as a skunk. Klaus put it in for cleaning usually, but Matt only watched movies of this quality when he was inebriated.

He settled back into the cushions of the couch and tried to remember everything that was going on based on the score and the dialogue. He scratched at the bandaged over his chest idly and drifted into a relaxed doze as the adrenaline let-down began to run its course through his system. Sleep wouldn't be a bad thing, given his need to heal...
