HEIGHT: 6'1"

PLAY-BY: Zachary Quinto

MIRROR OF ERISED: Zach would see his family whole, living without fear in a world that actually made sense.
BOGGART: Zach fears what the world is coming to. He fears failure and self doubt.

TRAITS:

The main aspects to Zach's personality are his confidence and drive. He can remain cool and collected in almost any situation, and when he wants something he gets it. He has ambition for himself, but not in a bad way. He is quite capable of working through or around problems without being detrimental to other people. He is also a generally optimistic and kind person who is easy to get along with. He does, however, have a nasty tendency to become controlling and overbearing. It's his way of trying to deal with problems.

Like everyone else, he does have his breaking points, and is prone to fits of irritability and even rage the closer he gets to those points. He is also a very truthful person (in a normal situation), to the point where he is very blunt and even hurtful to others. He is also a somewhat distant person, and is slightly hard to get to know. It's better to keep people at a distance so they can't hurt him. When it comes to women, he tends to be a charmer where the relationship doesn't last more than a one night stand. He has a hard time opening himself and getting close to others.

HISTORY:

The childhood of Zachary Arkwright and much of his adult life has between entwined with that of his fraternal twin, Vaughn. Born to Emily an Warren Arkwright, Zach and Vaughn were extremely different for being twins. Zach was born with dark hair, deep brown eyes, and sharply defined features; Vaughn was born with a much fairer complexion, lighter hair, misty green eyes, and smoother features. They were the kind of twins that made someone go "Really?" when told. Their personalities were vastly different as well. Born to two half-bloods, Zach had always been interested in the concept of magic and that he could do amazing things with just a simple swish of a wand. His brother was not quite as interested in magic so much as he was in Quidditch and other magical sports. While Zach could often be found reading some book or another back in his room, Vaughn was often off at Quidditch games with their father.

That was why, when Vaughn started showing magical tendencies before Zach, he became absolutely furious. Vaughn hadn't cared half as much about magic as he did, and yet he still began to show his first. It just wasn't fair! For a while, it even looked like Zach might have been a squib until he proved his abilities by stealing Vaughn's newly purchased wand and accidentally setting fire to their room.

At nine years old, Zach and Vaughn's sister, Kendra, was born. As the three of them grew up, she became immediately attracted to the easy-going, fun-loving Vaughn. It was just another point of jealousy for Zach to harbor. Growing up, it could be said that Zach and Vaughn had a love/hate relationship. At times they were the best of friends, and at others they got on each others nerves explosively.

Once at Hogwarts, Zach was separated from Vaughn: Zach went to Gryffindor and Vaughn went to Hufflepuff. It was a bit of a shock at first, but overall it was a nice change of pace. His bubble was shortly burst when he found out that he had over half his classes with Hufflepuff. Through the years there, many such more coincidences like this occurred: being randomly assigned as partners in class, frequent and various encounters in the hallway, etc. Vaughn, whom eventually became a top Divination student, attributed it to fate. He believed there was some sort of innate connection between them as twins that was beyond their control. Zach, a much more logical person and taker of Arithmancy, easily found reasons to attribute the occurrences to random chance.

Unfortunately, the two ended Hogwarts on bad terms. There had been a Ravenclaw girl Zach had been getting close to, and Vaughn knew it. On the day Zach finally decided to ask her out, he found the girl and his brother snogging in the hallway. Zach became furious and flew into a rage. The two of them ended up in a fist fight, resulting in Zach breaking Vaughn's jaw. The two of them stopped talking to each other for the remainder of their seventh year.

After Hogwarts, Zach took up a position in the Ministry's Department of International Magical Cooperation. He'd always had an aptitude for languages, and by this time in his life had gained a basic mastery of French, Italian, Spanish, German, and a bit of Russian in addition to certain magical languages such as Gobbledegook and Mermish. He advanced relatively quickly in the ministry, and eventually became appointed as an ambassador to the Americas. He was slightly annoyed by the fact that he was ambassador to countries with such similar cultures and languages, but knew that it would serve as a great stepping stone for him to advance his career and he had the ambition to prove it. Unfortunately, this was around the time that the takeover occurred.

Zach had been unfortunate enough to be at the Ministry on the night of the attack. His quick thinking and air of confidence allowed him to save a roomful of people. He convinced his attackers that he was actually a ministry implant who was on their side, and that he would 'take care' of those in the room. After the attack, he had more important matters to attend to. He and his family had never had any ties to the Order, but they were all half-bloods and Zach was not about to chance them being shoved into slavery. He had been out of contact with his family for the past several years; partly because of his brother, partly because he kept himself so busy. He arrived at his parents house to find them and a grieving sister. Apparently, the raids had begun, and her boyfriend had been taken while the two of them fled.

Zach promised both her and his parents that everything was going to be fine in only a way he could. He couldn't find or get a hold of his brother, but there wasn't enough time to continue to search. Using whatever little power he might still have retained as an ambassador, he managed to get his parents and sister out of the country and over to America. He stayed behind promising his family that he would find Vaughn and her sister's boyfriend. He had no idea what he was getting into.

By this time, slavery was in full swing and it absolutely disgusted him. He had no idea how he was going to make money, but as it turned out, he could keep his job at the Ministry (albeit the Ministry of overlord Williams). However, as a half blood, it involved a thorough interrogation to determine whether he had 'rightfully inherited his magic' or 'stole it'. Zach knew that it was really just to determine his loyalty and uses. He managed to quick-talk his way through the interrogation and not only retain his job, but earn a promotion to Head Ambassador. The Death Eaters knew they would need someone with his talents if they were going to maintain international peace, and Zach had convinced them of his 'loyalty'.

While working his job, Zach first managed to come across the whereabouts of his sister's boyfriend, Bradley Parker. One of his fellow ministry workers, an unqualified but adamant Trevor-supporter, talked about how he hated to discipline his slave and Zach overheard Brad's name. He quickly came up with a scam for breaking him free and getting him out of the country. Assuming the persona of 'Leonardo Principato', an Italian immigrant who 'started up a slave obedience school' , he convinced the ministry worker into placing Brad into the program, even making some money off of it in the process. It was a sham, obviously; a fake persona and a fake school. He almost pulled it off without getting caught too; not by the slave-owner or even a Death Eater, but by a member of SAVIOR (Self-Affirmed Victors In Open Rebellion) who helped expedite his plan. Brad was sent off to America to Zach's relieved sister.

That was how Zach learned of SAVIOR, an underground organization of free witches and wizards working to free slaves or smuggle them out of the country. Zach was recruited immediately, his ministry status and foreign abilities preceding him. After that he began aiding in the freeing and smuggling of both slaves and goods out of and into the country respectively.
He also started using his foreign contacts to make branches of SAVIOR in foreign countries as a means of helping the cause. Eventually, he had believed that he had gotten wind of Vaughn's location, and made finding and freeing him his top priority.

As it turned out, his lead was correct. Vaughn was a slave to the Ulrich family, a prominent German family and adamant supporters of Williams. Zach had began to attempt to begin his preparations to free him, when the leader of SAVIOR absolutely forbade it. It would be highly suspicious if his brother were to be broken out, and they desperately needed Zach for his position and skills. Although infuriated at first, he came to understand the reasoning. Instead he now hopes to free Vaughn and consequently all the other slaves by indirect means. Unbeknownst to anyone else, Zach began to secretly seek foreign aid when on his official trips to other countries. He revealed the atrocities of the slavery situation and is on the verge of starting an international conflict. He does hope, however, that the situation will not lead to full out war.

The regime change didn't interfere with Zach's day to day life all that much. A new figurehead, sure, but everything else quietly stayed the same. By this time however, Zach had lost track of Vaughn. He had apparently been traded away to another family, but Zach had yet to find out who. As disconcerting as this matter was, Zach knew he had to keep his head high and press on, fighting the good fight. Some plans were finally starting to form out of his foreign contacts and action would have to be taken. Soon...
