D.O.B.: May 14, 1971
EDUCATION: Degree in Chemistry and Art History from the University of Edinburgh
GENDER & PRONOUNS: Male
HAIR: Dusty grey. It's kept slightly long and is often left to its own devices. Generally keeps a small amount of stubble on his face but never lets it get to long.
WEIGHT: 165 lbs. While not as fit as he once was while in the service, he still does his best to maintain an athletic build.
MARKINGS: Various scrapes and scars he's gathered over the course of his years as MI6 though nothing that particularly stands out aside from the mess that was his left hip after multiple surgeries.
PLAY-BY: Mads Mikkelsen
DESIRE: To be able to go back to his life with MI6. As much as he tries to tell himself the life of a civilian is fine, he misses the excitement and adventure.
PHOBIA: Never finding out what happened to his wife and oldest child during the fall of 2009. Both have been missing since.
.Decisive. Working for both the MEP and SIS has given Arlo the ability to think fast on his feet. When out in the field or working on cases sometimes there just isn't time to consult the higher ups and the knack for making snap decisions while under pressure and being able to make accurate judgment calls with minimal information on hand has definitely proven an asset.
.Out-of-Box Thinker. Working with MI6 has helped to develop a knack for thinking outside of the box. More often that not missions never went according to plan or situations rose that were unexpected. The ability so find unorthodox solutions to solve problems has helped him throughout his life.
.Follows Orders. His ability to follow orders and carry them out mostly with out question is top notch. He understands the importance of the chain of command though he isn't afraid to take a non direct route to the end result or call someone out if he thinks there is a better way to do something. Yes orders are important but if you get yourself killed following them then everyone looses.
.Curious. Arlo has always had a curious nature right from child hood. A trait he associates as receiving from his mother. After all what kid wouldn't be wide eyed and amazed at all the artifacts and dig sites he got to experience over his childhood years.
.Attention to Detail. Over the course of his carrier, Arlo has developed an uncanny attention to detail. It wasn't uncommon to be running missions or working cases where one missed piece of evidence or out of place hair could cause a suspect to go free or blow a cover. This skill also transfers over to the civilian world where Arlo has found the skill to be useful in identifying/determining ages and values for art pieces that have found their way into his shop.

Arlo grew up the only child to two loving parents. His childhood was not what you would call normal by any means. Being the son of a mother who was an Arts History major and a father who was part of the Army meant that as a family they traveled a lot, often following his dad’s postings. He was home schooled for the most part though he did finish out his last 2 years of high school in London. After graduating Arlo went on to pursue a degree in Chemistry and Art History. It was during this time that he met his future wife Jerry-Lynn. Shortly after graduation the pair were happily married. She took up a job as an analyst with the GCHQ (Government Services) and he as a Detective with the London Metropolitan Police Service (MEP) working homicide.
After 6 years with the MEP, 3 of which were with the Counter-Terrorism unit, Arlo was approached by a recruiting agent for MI6. His work with and specialized knowledge for understanding counter terrorism and his wife’s ties to the GCHQ, made him a perfect asset to the SIS. It took many a long night and conversations with his wife (she did just give birth to their baby girl) but eventually it was decided that he should take the job. So with his wife’s blessing Alro entered service with MI6. After 3 years of intense training, child number 2, and smaller missions, Arlo officially became an agent in the fall of 2001. Most of his missions ranged from 1-3 months and were located in various places overseas with a focus in the middle east and Asia, where he was focused on asset retrieval/removal, information gathering and general espionage.
It was during one of his longer breaks at home when he first learned of his eldest child’s (7 at the time) uncanny knack for having strange things happen around her. At first Alro dismissed it as nothing major and just a bout of strange coincidence, but once day after coming home from running errands to see Harlow levitating her younger sister in a fit of sibling anger, he knew something wasn’t right. Luckily Jerry-Lynn had been home at the time and once the situation was diffused she sat Arlo down so they could have “the talk.”
And what talk it was. Arlo was sure there was no way to prepare oneself for finding out that magic wasn’t just the stuff of stories and fairy tales, that his wife was a witch, that apparently his oldest daughter was as well, and that there was in fact a whole magical world out there hidden from everyone. Initial fear and anger turned into shock and awe. Shock and awe turned to excitement and curiosity, and eventually acceptance as he began to understand what was going on. He still loved his wife and kids dearly and he wasn’t about to let magic come between that. If anything it would make life much more interesting… as if that wasn’t already the case.
In the spring of 2008 Arlo almost met his untimely end while on an asset retrieval mission. To this day he still won’t talk about what happened or went wrong other than small odd quip about “bad intel” and “dropped a building on me”. The mission had been a total failure and it had cost him. Sometime around July Arlo was officially “retired” from MI6 because let’s face it, an agent with a shattered and pieced back together hip that couldn’t walk far distances without pain or the use of a cane as a crutch was no long fit to be an agent. And with that he returned to the civilian life.
Over the course of the next year things went exceptionally well for the small family. Both daughters were in school (Marlow having started in Hogwarts the previous year), Jerry-Lynn was still with the GCHQ, and Arlo had purchased himself a small high end antiques shop to keep himself busy. The years had not dampened his love of Art and its history.
This all changed however in the fall of 2009. Normally taking Harlow to the Hogwarts Express only took Jerry-Lynn a few hours at most, so when she was only an hour late Arlo had thought nothing of it. But when 1 hour turned into 2 and then 2 turned into 4 he couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong. He tired her cell, reaching out to her friends. The only thing he couldn’t do was reach the magical world... Days passed without a word and both his wife and daughter were reported missing. Days turned into months and months into years and some days it was hard to hold out hope that they were still ok. He had worked homicide after all and he knew what missing usually meant. 3 years have passed and he still doesn’t know what happened to them but without a magical contact Arlo is certain he will never find out.
Fast forward to 2012. A friend from the SIS that he'd regularly kept in contact with has given him a heads up that one of the MI6 higher ups has submitted Arlo’s name for a Human Enhancement Program that is being run off the books by MI5. Apparently they were on the look out for suitable candidates and somehow his name had popped up. Thanks to the heads up Arlo wasn't as surprised as he should have been the night a former superior shows up at his door with an armload of paperwork and a mission he couldn't refuse. It took quite a bit of convincing, but eventually Arlo agreed. After all it’s to help defend the country right? The application goes through without a hitch and he is accepted however the program has since been temporarily suspended and his status put on hold. Currently Arlo continues to work out of his small antique shop (with the hope that something or someone magical will come through) and care for his youngest child.
• Was accepted into the Human Enhancement Program of MI5 on recommendation from a former MI6 superior. His status is currently pending while the program remains on hold.
• Nox -> Can absorb light and alter shadows. Suffers permanent Insomnia, has permanent scaring on his face and goes through moderate to severe hemorrhaging (normally through eyes and ears) depending on how much light he tries to absorb
